Tip Toe into our Classes
Ballet-Tap dancers start their dance training here at a very early age. Pre-school classes consist of dancers
potty trained to 6 years old, or upon starting 1st grade. While an entertaining and fun class for children,
education is our primary goal. This is a combination class, tap and ballet, where dancers will study 45 minutes
weekly.
Tap, a fun, light hearted class with a focus on making audible sounds with your feet is offered to dancers 1st
grade and up. The class will include barre work, across the floor and center floor movements and
combinations.
Jazz classes are available for students starting 1st grade and older. Basic jazz is taught using an array of
different styles of jazz and different music selections, offering dancers a variety of education.
Ballet is the base of all dance. If you are having difficulty selecting a subject for your dancer, then choose a
ballet class. We start children who are 1st graders in ballet and advance to all ages. It is a great place to start
since all dance forms center around ballet. It starts you off with balance, strengthening, control and great
class structure.
Pointe' classes are offered to advanced students. In pointe' you will wear pointe' shoes starting at the barre
and advancing to center work and also traveling across the floor. This is not offered until you have completed
a minimum of 3 years of ballet and the age of 12, when the bones in your feet stop growing. Your instructor
will gladly let you know when you are ready to add pointe' to your dance schedule.
Hip Hop is a "newer" stylized form of dance. It is a high energy class with a jazz base. We offer this class to
dancers currently enrolled in a ballet & tap combination class at MDP who are younger than 1st grade or age
1st grade and up.
Acrobatics, better known as tumbling consist of strictly floor work. Tumblers age 4 and up are learning how
to balance and control their bodies along with strengthening their arms and legs. From front rolls to back
handsprings, we offer it all.
